Jobs and the Economy

On this page you need to post how the candidate feels about the issue that you are assigned.
  • One student should look at the candidate's website and campaign ads to determine how they feel about the issue.  Post it here.
  • The other student should look at what the candidate says about the issues in the media (TV, internet, radio, newspapers, or magazines).  So you can look at new reports, recorded interview, candidate speeches, and debates.  You  may post videos as well, see above to add a video element.
  • If your group has a third member, this student is responsible for looking up information about the candidate's public record while in office.  *** remember to use nonpartisan websites located on the libguide to find this information.

In this video Mitt Romney talks about his views on the increasing rate of unemployment and the monstrous amount of money the government spends each year.

What he supports.

This is what he supports. He has no voting record because he was recently a governor.• The American Competitiveness Act
This is intended to reduce the corporate income tax rate to 25%.
• The Open Markets Act
This act is supposed to implement free trade agreements with Colombia, Panama, and South Korea.
• The Domestic Energy Act
This directs the Department of the Interior to undertake a comprehensive energy review.
• The Retraining Reform Act
This act would consolidate federal retraining programs and return these programs to the states.
• The Down Payment on Fiscal Sanity Act
This will immediately cut non-security discretionary spending by 5 percent, which is $20 billion.

Romney's Opinion
He wants to take away the things that slow economic growth and promote things that stimulate it. He will rebuild the economy on the fundamentals of free enterprise, hard work, and innovation. He seeks to increase trade, energy production, human capital, and labor flexibility. His plan is to work towards critical adjustments rather than short-term fixes for the country.
